TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL) — WTXL has shared stories from FAMU graduates who lived in a group of longtime residence halls that will be torn down soon.

WTXL's Stephen Jiwanmall took a closer a look at two Rattlers who found love on the steps of those dorms.

The journey for Marcus and Tracey Bryant started on March 18th, 1983.

"And it was in front of McGuinn Hall. I walked up the steps, and Tracey was sitting on the stoop and the rest is history," said Marcus Bryant FAMU Alumnis.

Marcus was a peer counselor. Tracey ended up being one, too. But they quickly became more than friends.

"I can't say that we were love at first sight, but it was, 'We're not going to let each other get away," said Tracey Bryant, FAMU Alumna.

Marcus and Tracey said McGuinn Hall shaped their future. They got married, had two kids and earned degrees from FAMU.

But soon, McGuinn and three other dorms won't be on campus anymore.

"It's bittersweet. It's got to be progress, but you hate to see the building go," said Marcus.

"I remember my room number 136. I was on top of the boiler. It was always warm in my room," said Tracy.

Before crews got to work, the Bryants took pictures at McGuinn looking back at what brought them together.

"To be able to come back to this spot and to know that generations past now, we won't have that opportunity. So, we are very glad to just be here today," said Tracy.

An amphitheater will replace the dorms. The Bryants said they have quite the story to tell their grandchildren.

"We'll have to come to the amphitheater to an event to let them know that this is the spot. The progress is the amphitheater, it was a dorm, but we met here," said the Bryants.
