TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — After coming into contact with a symptomatic protester on Saturday, three Tallahassee Police officers have tested positive for COVID-19.
A spokesperson with TPD confirmed that one of the protesters who was arrested during Saturday's protest outside of the State Capitol building was also symptomatic and was later taken to the hospital where they tested positive for COVID-19.
After being notified of the positive result, TPD tested 40 officers. Of those, three of them tested positive for COVID-19.
Of those who tested positive, one of the three officers was in close contact with the other two were in the area. All three are currently in quarantine and are doing well, according to TPD.
Now, TPD is following guidelines from the health department and are doing contact tracing to determine if more testing is needed.
