TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Second Judicial Circuit of Florida has canceled all in-person jury trials scheduled in January.

In an amendment Thursday, the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida canceled all in-person jury circuit-wide and some non-jury trials through the month of January due to rising COVID-19 concerns in the area.

"Jury trials and non-jury trials may be authorized to resume February 2021, dependent upon public health data, consultation with justice system partners, and after final approval by the presiding judges and chief judge," the amendment said.

The few remaining impending in-person court proceedings throughout the Second Circuit have been reviewed and are determined to be relatively low-risk due to comprehensive health and safety measures being followed by the court and justice system partners, according to the amendment.

Leon, Gadsden, Franklin, Jefferson, Liberty and Wakulla counties are all part of the Second Circuit.
