Local Leaders Kick Off Annual Neighborhood Recognition Program

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Council of Neighborhood Associations, Leon County government and the City of Tallahassee are kicking-off the annual Neighborhood Recognition Program and hosting the 2017 State of the Community meeting.

County Administrator Vincent Long and City Manager Ricardo Fernandez will update residents on the state of Leon County and the City of Tallahassee.

During the meeting, details are expected to be announced about how to apply for the 2017 neighborhood and neighbor of the year awards.

City commissioners told us more about the categories.

"We're going to be taking nominations between now and April 28," said City Commissioner Gil Ziffer. "We're going to announce in June for "Neighborhood of the Year" for less than 200 homes and more than 200 hundred homes, and this year were also adding "Neighbor of the Year."

It's all being held right now at the DKO Providence Community Service Center on the 1900 block of Highland Street.
