TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Lincoln High School boys basketball coach is in jail after being arrested Thursday.

In the Leon County Sheriff's Office's daily booking report, Dimitric Salters is listed without a mugshot. He faces three separate charges of grand theft, scheme to defraud, and uttering a forged instrument.

According to a complaint filed against him, Salters is accused of using $13,000 of Leon County Schools' money for his own devices.

Chris Petley, the Communications Manager for Leon County Schools, released this statement to WTXL:

"After an extensive internal investigation by Leon County School’s Safety and Security Officers, Dimitric Salters has been arrested and charged with grand theft, uttering and scheme to defraud.

The case has been turned over to the State Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Mr. Salters was placed on admin leave in January. He has been an employee of LCS for the previous three years. Prior to that he was employed at East Gadsden High School."

Salters was placed on administrative review back in January during an investigation into financial irregularities.

According to an arrest affidavit, Lincoln High School's principal reported to authorities some irregularities involving money for the schools' basketball team.

After questioning a late in season purchase order report, the principal discovered that an unauthorized account in the name of Lincoln Basketball Club Inc. had been established and much of the team's money was being routed through that account.

The investigation revealed that Salters allowed three parents to form Lincoln Basketball Club Inc. and they opened a bank account.

Through the 2016-2017 season, the affidavit asserts that money was desposited as part of an unauthorized fee to parents of $500 per player. During this time, evidence showed that Salters had also deposited some of this money to his personal account.

A full audit of the records revealed that Salters deposited a total equaling over $13,000.

They also discovered that Salters had been cashing in on basketball camps that were being held at the high school.
