TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida Gov. Rick Scott says the Sunshine State created 17,000 jobs in June, continuing to outpace the nation.
WTXL ABC's Jada Williams was live Monday with last month's newly released unemployment numbers, showing how that job growth impacted our area.
According to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, unemployment for Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties continues to decrease.
The regional unemployment rate for those counties was 3.9 percent for June 2018; that's down .4% from May.
Wakulla had the lowest unemployment rate for the capital region.
Top advertised jobs include registered nurses, computer systems analysts, and heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers.
CareerSource Capital Region regularly hosts career fairs to help keep the unemployment number as low as possible.
Speaking of jobs, Wakulla is one of five counties selected by Duke Energy for their Site Readiness Program.
