TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - This week began the count for the homeless population in Leon County.
The homeless census is taken the last 10 days of January every year.
Areas that have a high homeless population are surveyed by volunteers, who asked personal survey questions to determining their situation.
Questions include if they are chronically homeless, need medical care and do they have children.
The completed surveys compiled into a big document that various organizations use to determine funding for programs and applying for grants.
