TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office is trying to help prevent crime by making sure residents are exercising their "street sense."
The Sheriff's Office sharing safety tips on their Facebook page.
They warn to always stay alert and tuned into your surroundings, don't accept rides or gifts from someone you do not know well and trust and trust your instincts. If something makes you uneasy then avoid the situation.
Lieutenant Grady Jordan stopped by the WTXL studio to tell us more.
"When violators or suspects look for victims, they look for people that are not aware, people that are kind of oblivious to what is going on, so when you give off this air of confidence and this air of I know what is gong on and I know what I can do and I have confidence in myself. That is a deterrent to suspects," said Lt. Grady.
