TALLAHASSEE,Fla. (WTXL) - The Leon County Sheriff's Office says a drive-thru cashier at Steak and Shake has been arrested after he chased a customer with a gun.

Around 7 a.m. Monday morning, a Leon County Deputy was flagged down by a resident who explained he was being followed by a man with a gun.

The victim told deputies he was in the drive thru at Steak and Shake, located at 1459 Capital Circle NW, when he had a brief, argument through the drive-thru speaker with the drive-thru attendant. After, the victim decided to leave the drive-thru to go to another restaurant.

The victim then drove to the turn lane at Capital Circle NW and Tharpe Street. While waiting at the light, the attendant came to his car to confront him. After a verbal exchange at the intersection, the victim made a u-turn onto Capital Circle.

While in the drive-thru of the second restaurant, the victim saw the same attendant getting out of a car behind him. The victim told deputies he saw the suspect grab a gun from the vehicle and begin to walk toward his car.

The victim then left that drive-thru, where he saw a Leon County deputy stopped at the traffic light. While talking with the deputy, the victim saw the suspect’s vehicle.

The deputy followed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop but the attendant didn't stop and continued back to Capital Circle NW, where he drove across the southbound lanes, jumped the median, and onto the northbound lanes of Capital Circle NW.

The attendant then pulled back in to the Steak and Shake parking lot, jumped out of the vehicle while it was still rolling and ran toward a wooded area between the restaurant and the business located in the 4400 block of West Tennessee Street.

As the deputy began to chase the man on foot, he heard the suspect fire a gun. The deputy then took cover at his vehicle and called for responding deputies to set up a perimeter.

While running, deputies say the man found an empty car in the rear parking lot of a nearby business and got into the passenger seat. The driver inside told the man to get out and he complied, running around to the front parking lot where he was arrested.

The gun the suspect had was found in the wooded area just south of Steak and Shake with the assistance of LCSO K-9.

The attendant was later identified as 32 year old Luther Parks.

Parks is facing the following charges:

  • Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
  • Burglary of a Conveyance
  • Fleeing and Eluding Resisting Arrest without Violence

TALLAHASSEE,Fla. (WTXL) - A male suspect is in custody after a shot was fired while he fled from a Leon County Sheriff's Office deputy Monday morning.

Around 7 a.m. Monday, LCSO pulled a car over after receiving a tip that the suspect in it was involved in another crime.

The suspect initially refused to stop the vehicle, which he pulled into a Steak n Shake parking lot, 1459 Capital Circle NW, and then bailed out of.

While the suspect climbed a fence, his gun discharged.

It was unclear whether the suspect intentionally fired at deputies or whether the gun was fired unintentionally as he climbed.

After the suspect climbed the fence, he ran toward a Walmart parking lot and tried to jump into another car but was apprehended before he could do so.

Deputies are continuing their investigation.
