LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A man who was found dead near the Ochlocknee River Bridge back in 2015 has been positively identified.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office says they have positively identified a man found deceased near the Ochlocknee River Bridge and Highway 27 North in 2015.

On December 17, 2015, troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol located a man, now identified as 56-year-old Michael Lee Alexander, deceased on the river bank.

They say Alexander appears to have been hit by a vehicle, which then left the scene of the accident.

Alexander was a transient. He was reported missing by his mother, who lives in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. He has also lived in Connecticut with family.

Investigators are still looking for information about what happened with Alexander. If you have any information in regards to the circumstances surrounding Alexander’s death please call Deputy James Pittman at 850-606-3300.


LEON Co., FL (WTXL) - Leon County Deputies are still working to identify a body found in the Ochlockonee River on Thursday.

Deputies say the body was found in the river near the bank on the Leon County side of the river.

An autopsy has been completed and deputies say it looks that the person died from injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.
