TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - 60 members of the Junior League of Tallahassee put on black outfits they'll will wear until this Friday.

It's part of their Little Black Dress Initiative to raise awareness about poverty in the community.

Women with the non-profit organization wear pins with their outfits, hoping to spark conversation about poverty and and how it affects our community. The goal is to raise $10,000 by the end of the week. The money raised will be dispersed to several organizations.

According to the initiative's chair Samantha Ferrin, 12,000 children in Tallahassee live in poverty.

This is the second year the organization has put on this fundraiser and last year they raised $11,000.
