TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - As 2017 wraps up, we're taking a look at the important people we lost in the community this year.
In August, a Gadsden County Sheriff's deputy died after months of health struggles from a motorcycle crash in Tallahassee.
In May, Maximilian Sander was riding his motorcycle on North Meridian Road when a car pulled out in front of him. Officials say Sander was not wearing a helmet, leading to a months-long battle with serious injuries.
The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office honored Deputy Sander's service with a memorial and a special dedication to his life.
Sander's colleagues say the loss was a difficult one.
