BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Bidders can't get enough of America's favorite pastime.

A baseball glove belonging to hard-swinging Babe Ruth was the top item Saturday during an auction of celebrity memorabilia in Maine. Troy Thibodeau from Saco River Auction says the leftie glove fetched $118,000.

A face mask and catcher's mitt belonging to Hall of Famer Roy Campanella sold for $42,000. Other top items were a hat and harmonica from Janis Joplin that sold for $33,000 and Jimi Hendrix's leather cowboy hat that netted $22,000.

The auction of several dozen items that once belonged to the late New York TV talk show host Joe Franklin brought in $500,000.

The items came from a collector who spent years purchasing items from Franklin, who encouraged his famous guests to leave souvenirs after appearing on his show.
