JESUP, Ga. (AP) - A south Georgia man has been given two life prison sentences plus 10 years in the death of his pregnant girlfriend.
Wayne County District Attorney Jackie Johnson says 33-year-old Jeremy Dewayne King was sentenced Monday. He pleaded guilty to murder, feticide, possession of a firearm by a felon and child cruelty in the March 2012 shooting.
The Florida Times-Union reports Sheriff John Carter says King was charged with child cruelty because he shot his girlfriend in front of the couple's young son.
