ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — George Zimmerman had moved out of Florida, but is now sticking around as police officers investigate his role in a confrontation with a man who shot at him as they were driving.
Zimmerman's attorney said Tuesday that the former neighborhood watch volunteer had moved several weeks ago and was settling in his new place. Zimmerman came back to the area this week for Mother's Day and was driving to a doctor's appointment when he became involved in the shooting with Matthew Apperson.
Apperson's attorney says his client fired the gun out of self-defense during Monday's encounter on a busy road in the Orlando suburb of Lake Mary.
Zimmerman suffered minor injuries from flying glass and debris.
Police say they have recovered two guns from Apperson and one from Zimmerman.
