TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- The ultimate sacrifice for a law enforcement officer and their family is the End of Watch; the moment that they are killed in the line of duty while trying to protect and serve.
The Police Unity Tour exists to raise awareness for Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty and to raise money for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum.
They ride for those that died, so the sacrifice will never be forgotten.
The ride coincidences with National Police Week. Riders from Team Tallahassee and the rest of the The Police Unity Tour, Chapter 8 begin in Portsmouth, VA and then ride for three straight days to Washington D.C.
For 250 miles, almost 200 officers and survivors face a grueling terrain so that when they tell a loved one that their officer's sacrifice wont be forgotten, the words are not hallow.
On Thursday Sept. 1st WTXL, along with the Tallahassee Police Department and Higher Ground Bike Company, is holding a fundraiser to help raise money for equipment so more survivors can participate in the Police Unity Tour.
Help us to show that the ultimate sacrifice from our law enforcement community will not be forgotten.
