TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Local students pushed back against recent calls for military action in Syria.
Members of the Tallahassee chapter of Students for a Democratic Society held a rally Wednesday.
Students gathered around Florida State University's Integration Statue.
Activists took to the megaphone, saying the U.S. airstrikes against Syria were wrong and dangerous.
"I am here to object to any wars that President Trump is trying to start, and I am here to raise awareness about the suffering of the people in Syria as a result of the United States' military intervention," said Katherine Draken, vice president of the FSU Students for Democratic Society.
Draken hopes activists like her can help end domestic and international human suffering and encourage an open door policy for future refugees.
