TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee students are responding to recent calls for military action in Syria.

Members of the Tallahassee Chapter of Students for a Democratic Society are calling an emergency event and speaking out against those renewed calls.

Wednesday they will be meeting at Florida State University to discuss what they call ways to "combat expansionist and imperialist U.S. foreign policy."

This comes after President Donald Trump ordered air strikes in Syria last week in retaliation for the latest suspected chemical weapons attack on civilians by Syrian leader Bashar al Assad.

The group is planning to meet at the Integration Statue on FSU's campus Wednesday at 5 p.m.
