TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida State University President John Thrasher made it clear on Friday that Trump's withdrawal of federal protections for transgender students would not affect FSU.
In a released statement Thrasher emphasized the importance of transgender members to the campus's diversity and assured they will be protected.
The federal protections originally allowed transgender students in public schools and universities to use the restroom that corresponds with their gender identity without any discrimination.
In response Thrasher says "this federal action has no impact on FSU’s commitment to support and protect transgender people on our campuses."
In regards to the restroom Thrasher states that "all members of our community are free to use a restroom that aligns with their gender identity."
