TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Today marks 77 years since the attack on Pearl Habrbor.
At the Florida State University World War II Institute, workers found a journal of a soldier that recounts that day.
The entry says the soldier was brushing his teeth when he heard the explosions. He takes up four pages in the notebook to talk about December 7.
Inside the box of donated items were also two casings that the soldier turned into salt and pepper shakers.
Julianna Witt, an archival assistant, said:"Now with World War II vets now in their late 90's and unfortunately when they pass away, their stories might not get told. The good thing about the institute is that we have the stories and we're able to spread to researchers, to students, to just the everyday public. It's great that we can share everyone's experience while they might not longer be living with us."
The team says the soldier donated his belongings to the school in 2008, but because they have so much in stock, they just recently discovered what's inside.
