TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The FSU Board of Trustees met Tuesday afternoon to discuss the four finalists for the top job at the university. Around 5:25 pm Tuesday, the Board of Trustees passed a motion to name Senator John Thrasher as Florida State University's next president.

As soon as the motion was passed, FSU students and faculty holding signs started chanting "FSU is not for sale."

The Florida Board of Governors still have to confirm this decision at the next meeting, which is not scheduled until the day after November election.

A main point of discussion during Tuesday's meeting and the entire presidential search process was FSU's campaign to become a top 25 school and which candidate would be best to take the school to that spot.

Students and faculty have been very vocal about the search process. Students have attended meetings and even took to social media, using hashtags such as #ResetTheSearch. After the search committee named four finalists, the faculty senate passed a resolution against the search process.
