TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - When it comes to kids, it takes a family to love, nurture and support them. Sometimes those parents are fosters.

This week we're recognizing foster families across Florida.

A local organization, One Church One Child of Florida, connects kids in need of a home with a loving family.

The executive director, Arie Sailor, says every day in Florida children are removed from their homes because their parents are unable to provide proper care.

Typically, kids stay in the foster system for three years.

Sometimes the situation becomes long-term, with adoption a fading option for kids ages nine and up.

Sailor says the demand is so high for foster families across the state that children often have to move outside of their county just to have a home.
