COBB COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - The former Valdosta State University student that made national headlines when he walked on an American flag is now back in custody after a probation violation.
FBI officials say Eric Sheppard was arrested Monday in Cobb County.
Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk says he was recently arrested in the City of Belton, Texas for "harassing communications" with a woman believed to be his fiancee or a former girlfriend.
"Police out there picked him up, and he bonded out. At the time, there was no violation of probation warrant on him. He's probably got some major problems," said Paulk. "Of course, I set the probation, and there will be a probation hearing. So, you know, all we're doing is we're just -- an agency, they'll be holding him."
You may recall that Sheppard was also arrested in 2016, for bringing a gun on VSU's campus.
He is expected back in Lowndes County Jail by tomorrow.
