QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL)--A former Florida State Hospital nurse charged for her role in the mistreatment of a mental pregnant patient was back in court Thursday afternoon.
Kathryn Cottle was arrested for her connection to the case last October and the family says they want closure.
Cottle, who's accused of neglecting to care for a pregnant patient at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee back in December 2011. Cottle is facing a third degree felony and about 5 years in prison.
The patient's baby boy died after living 8-months on life support.
The Florida Department of Children and Families took action launching an investigation into the hospital and fired those who were involved.
The family say's they just want justice.
"I hoping that the investigation will continue and that there will be all the appropriate measures made to pursue anybody that was responsible and causing this unfortunate situation to my grandson as well as to my daughter," said Ken Wills, grandfather of the deceased baby.
Cottle isn't due back in court until October 10th.
Attorneys say there's still more work left to do in this case.
