TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Woody Hildebrandt, the former Lively Technical Center principal who was arrested last year for grand theft, is running for Leon County Superintendent, according to his attorney.
Attorney Tim Jansen confirmed Tuesday that Hildebrandt is running for the office. Jansen is representing Hildebrandt for felony charges filed against him in 2015.
Hildebrandt was arrested last year after being put on administrative leave in 2014 for allegations that he stole materials owned by the school and had instructors alter their time sheets.
At the time of his arrest he was charged with four counts of grand theft and one count of petit theft. His trial is scheduled for October 31.
In a lawsuit that was filed against the district, Hildebrandt later claimed he was working as an FBI informant while the government was investigating Leon County School construction projects.
The announcement comes one day after City Commissioner Scott Maddox announced he would not be running for Superintendent but would instead run for his City Commission seat.
Hildebrandt will be facing off against incumbent Superintendent Jackie Pons and former Leon High School Principal Rocky Hanna among others.
