GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Police say a standoff at a motel in Gainesville ended when a man who had barricaded himself inside a room surrendered.

Police identified the man as 31-year-old Justin Talton. He faces charges of reckless conduct and criminal damage to property, with more charges pending.

Police say they got a call from a family member Tuesday morning saying something wasn't right about Talton and asking officers to check on him. When officers arrived, they saw he had weapons in his room at a Motel 6 on U.S. Highway 129. Officers evacuated the surrounding rooms and area and shut down some streets.

Police say Talton fired at officers just before noon. No officers were hit. Less than an hour later, Talton surrendered and was taken into custody.
