TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (The News Service of Florida) - Voters in Florida face a Monday, July 30 deadline to register to vote in next month’s Primary Election.
The August 28 ballot will include partisan primary races for the US Senate, governor, two state cabinet seats, along with several Congressional and legislative races.
In addition to new Florida voters, those who wish to switch their political party affiliation must also make changes by Monday for the update to take effect for the Primary Election.
Address changes for those already registered in Florida can be handled up to the day of the election.
Leon County Supervisor of Elections Mark Earley says the enthusiasm among new voters has increased recently.
“We have had quite a bit of new registrations for the last month and a half. This is, I won’t say surprising, but maybe the level is a little bit unprecedented," said Earley.
Statewide voter turnout during the 2016 primary election was just 24 percent.
