TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida State safety Derwin James says he will not be playing in the Seminoles' bowl game.
In a post shared on Instagram, James said that he is going "on to the next chapter" of his life and will be entering into the 2018 NFL Draft.
It was announced Sunday that Florida State will play Southern Miss in the Walk-On’s Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Dec. 27.
James was recruited by Odell Haggins from Haines City, Florida and committed to Florida State back in 2012.
His decision comes after the fallout from Jimbo Fisher's departure from FSU. Fisher was officially announced as Texas A&M's new head coach on Monday.
Since Fisher's departure, the Noles recruiting class has plummeted to No. 40 after several decommitments.
