TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - Florida A&M's Public Health Institute has been awarded $650,000 from the Health Resources and Services Administration. The stipends will be available starting in January, once the spring semester gets underway.
The funds will come from two places, one will award 16 traineeship grants at the school and the other for $200,000 will go towards training public health workers throughout Florida. The funds should help cover the higher cost of graduate school.
The school has about 120 students who are working on Master's Degrees in areas like environmental health, and maternal and child health.
