TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida authorities are closing one voter fraud probe into a company once aligned with the Republican Party of Florida.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Thursday released documents showing in April it had finished an investigation into suspicious voter registration forms turned in to Lee and Charlotte counties.
Investigators said some forms appeared to be false. But the investigation was closed for a lack of evidence after interviews were conducted.
This does not end the investigation that was launched last fall. There are still three other probes still underway in the state.
Two former employees with Strategic previously admitted to law-enforcement authorities that they forged voter registration forms. Prosecutors back in January decided to place both of them on probation because neither has a criminal history.
