LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) -The weather has prompted Leon County officials to prepare local roads for travel tomorrow.

WTXL ABC 27's Stephen Jiwanmall spoke with emergency management to discuss their plans so far.

Crews will start sanding roads at 8 o'clock tonight. The county has trucks ready to address issues with wet and icy roads. It's been four years since the county has had to prepare this much for winter weather.

The county says roads may need to be closed if they're not safe to travel. Local law enforcement will be on hand to make sure people don't drive through these areas.

Emergency Management Director Kevin Peters says it's been a day of constant communication with their partners to get the best plan ready.

Governor Scott just announced state troopers will be on 12-hour shifts to watch roadways. FDOT crews will be spraying state roads and bridges later tonight and early tomorrow.

Once again, local officials are urging residents to delay their travels, if possible tomorrow to avoid driving during the worst of the weather.
