TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A weekend shooting near Florida A&M University's campus left one person dead and another hospitalized.

The Tallahassee Police Department reported that 20-year-old Quinton Langford received medical treatment at the scene of the shooting but later died.

Langford was a construction engineering technology major and president of the FAMU Student Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America.

The other victim, Landsay Elisson, also 20, was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where he had surgery.

The shooting took place early Saturday morning at Gamble and Perry streets.

Tallahassee police said a large party was ending when someone fired shots into the crowd, injuring the students.

As the university mourns the loss of one, school officials expressed their well wishes to the families of the victims.

"Quintin was a strong student leader. We extend condolences and prayers to his family, and will keep Landsay and his family in our prayers," said FAMU's interim president Larry Robinson.

The school has now offered grief therapy for those on campus as well. TPD has asked people who were at the scene to call them at (850) 891-4200.
