TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Florida A&M University College of Law is offering a new class this summer about marijuana.
The class, called 'Marijuana Law and Policy', allows students to take an in-depth look at the competing approaches to regulating marijuana, the rationales behind these approaches, where legal authority resides for choosing among them, and why understanding marijuana law is a civil rights issue.
Professor Tameika Range, says talking about cannabis, especially in a classroom, is a prevalent issue in today's society.
"There's so much more science to cannabis in 2018 that if you're going back to the mindset that you had back in the 60's and 70's you're completely ill-informed on the subject matter," said Professor Range. "So science is growing, the law is growing on the subject matter, case law is coming out of the cannabis industry like crazy on every single subject matter."
Professor Range says FAMU College of Law is the 14th institution to offer a class about marijuana in the nation.
