TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Legendary FSU coach Bobby Bowden is hailing America as the "greatest country this side of heaven" after beating COVID-19.
Bowden released the statement Wednesday afternoon.
"I want to thank all the many, many people who were thinking of and praying for me over the last few weeks," Bowden wrote in the statement. "I just went through a battle of COVID-19, and God just wasn't ready to take me Home yet to be with Him."
Bowden wrote that, like President Trump, he was treated with remdesivir.
“At the age of 91, in many other countries, I might not have even been treated. In America, I was,” Bowden said.
This comes after Bowden was admitted to the hospital after testing positive for coronavirus. He has since been released and is recovering well, according to the statement.
President Trump responded to Bowden's statement on Thursday, writing on Twitter "Thank you to Florida State for giving us Bobby Bowden."
....to be around to vote for President Trump.” Over 300 wins and 2 National Championships. Thank you to Florida State for giving us Bobby Bowden!
