TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The Widow of a Leon County sheriff's deputy is suing a dispatch agency and communications company in connection with her husband's death.

The Tallahassee Democrat (http://on.tdo.com/1TL8qpz ) reports the lawsuit alleges Consolidated Dispatch Agency failed to properly alert Deputy Chris Smith that a man at a house fire he was responding to had threatened to kill law officers. Communications company Motorola Solutions Inc., developer of the dispatch system, is also named in the lawsuit.

Chris Smith was shot and killed in 2014. The man who killed Smith intentionally set fire to his home and ambushed responding officers.
