MONTICELLO, Fla. (WTXL) - One person is dead after a large party in Monticello over the weekend turned into a shooting.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's office says that the party happened on Saturday at the Martin Luther King Center (1420 East First Street) in Monticello.
At around 1:30 a.m., deputies were called to the area about shots being fired and victims being injured.
Deputies, the Monticello Police Department, and Jefferson County Fire Rescue all responded and provided medical assistance to the victims before transporting them to the hospital.
Unfortunately, one victim, Brandon Young, succumbed to his injuries. No further information is being released at this time due to an active criminal investigation.
