GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Students in Gadsden County were also headed back to the classroom Monday.
As part of that, the sheriff's office wants to remind drivers to be extra cautious and follow the rules in 'school safety zones.'
Sergeant Anglie Hightower says when sign lights are flashing, traffic in school zones are reduced to 25 miles per hour or lower depending on the area.
"There are not crossing guards at every intersection because they may be passing or crossing a major highway," said Hightower. "So at least wait or make it a practice to. There are red lights they can clearly pass at."
Sergeant Hightower says it is also best have your children walk to and from school with a group of friends.
