Valdosta to close city facilities to public indefinitely due to rising COVID-19 cases

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) — The City of Valdosta announced in a release Wednesday that in response to rising COVID-19 cases in the area, all city facilities will be closed to the public indefinitely beginning Jan. 1, 2021.

Earlier Wednesday the Georgia Department of Public Health said COVID-19 cases in the Southern Health District of the state, where Valdosta is located, reached an "all-time high."

The closures to the public include the following buildings:

  • Municipal Court
  • City Hall
  • Utilities
  • Public Works
  • City Hall Annex
  • Mathis Auditorium
