TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--Members of the community gave back at Lake Ella for the 30th Annual Community Thanksgiving.
Every year the event feeds anywhere from 900-1200 people and this year was no different.
Everyone received a hot meal on Thursday and listened to music. Anyone who needed to make a long distance phone call to a loved one did so free of charge.
Organizer Vickie Goodman tells us on any given day there are about 850 homeless people in Tallahassee. With donations from businesses, the event has been going strong for 30 years now.
"It's not just being fed," said Goodman. "You want to be comfortable, but the most important thing is that people have that sense of community. That people care about them. We have a 150 volunteers here who come out and volunteers start signing up in September so there are many return people."
