TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Every community seems to have their own traditions for the holidays.

For Tallahassee, it would not be Thanksgiving without the annual thanksgiving celebration at Lake Ella.

Now in it's 33 year, this celebration continues to draw a large crowd, with over 1,000 people expected to attend Thursday's feast.

There will be phones available for guests to call loved ones, free transportation to and from the american legion hall from select locations, and a classic thanksgiving meal.

A celebration this large doesn't just happen overnight. It takes months to plan.

"We started September 29th working on it to make sure we could get everything in that has to be brought in," said Lynn Higgins, the personnel manager at Premier Fine Homes & Sandco LLC. "We purchase all the utensils that needs to be done to prepare for Thanksgiving. We order the turkeys from Hope Community."

Thursday's meal is made possible by over 200 volunteers, and countless community sponsors and donors.

This Thanksgiving meal will be served at the American Legion Hall at Lake Ella Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
