COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - An accused Colquitt County mass killer has a new attorney.
According to reports, Melinda Ryals will be the new counsel for Jeffrey Peacock.
Peacock is accused of fatally shooting five people in May 2016 at a home on Rossman Dairy Road. Police also say he killed three dogs and set fire to the house to cover up the crime.
Burt Baker, Peacock's former attorney, withdrew from the case in October.
Ryals has been a member of the capital defender's office since 2013.
Prosecutors announced last year they would seek the death penalty against Peacock. No trial date has been announced.
