TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL)- The City of Tallahassee posted a Public Safety Millage Calculator to show property owners how the increase on taxes may affect their bill.
The city plans to deduct 22 percent of property tax from homeowners in order to address public safety needs. The City of Tallahassee says the average tax deduction equates to 8 dollars a month for the standard household.
The City's Budget Manager, Heath Beach, said, "If approved, it would have a significant impact on providing more police officers to address the major increase in violent crime we are experiencing."
The calculator database is searchable by typing in your home address which calculates the City's portion of the bill.
