GRAND RIDGE, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers say a 7-year-old child has been hospitalized in serious condition after he was hit by a car while riding his bike.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports the crash happened over the weekend.
On Saturday, around 11:34 a.m., troopers say Jimmie Clayton, 60, of Sneads was driving his 2012 Ford Van on Finely Avenue when he came to a stop sign.
FHP said Clayton made a right turn onto Iowa Street, but failed to see a 7-year-old boy riding his bike down the street.
Clayton's car hit the boy, sending him to the ground. The 7-year-old old was taken to Jackson Hospital with serious injuries.
Troopers say Clayton was uninjured in the crash. He has been charged with failure to use due care toward pedestrian.
