EASTPOINT, Fla. (AP) - State wildlife officials say they have trapped and euthanized two adult bears in an area where a Florida Panhandle teenager was mauled.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Stan Kirkland says two cubs also were trapped and will be released elsewhere.
Kirkland tells the Northwest Florida Daily News (http://bit.ly/1zWdiyT ) that wildlife officials will continue trapping and euthanizing all adult bears from the Eastpoint area until a lab can match one of the bears with DNA collected at the scene where Leah Reeder was mauled while walking her dog Saturday night. All cubs will be relocated.
The girl's mother has said the bear backed off when Leah's dog lunged at it. Leah suffered significant injuries to her legs, back, neck and face.
