TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL)-A lingering bat guano infestation at The Department of Business and Professional Regulation's office is causing a big stink for local business owners.
15-hundred state employees will soon evacuate the office at the Northwood Center on North Monroe Street.
This comes after nearly 10-pounds of bat guano was found in the ceiling last week.
Northwood Center is home to not only the State Department of Business and Regulation but 15-other local businesses and restaurants.
With over a thousand employees soon leaving the complex, local shops inside Northwood Center now fear how the loss of foot traffic will impact their businesses.
"Most people in this building actually eat here. But a lot of people in this building eat inside this food court. It will effect us a lot so most of our customers work in this building so we'll lose most of our profit".
NAI Talcor manages the facility says, they are working with the state along with the owners to remove the guano in a timely fashion.
They're also conducting tests on the overall health of the Northwood Center, stressing that the health and safety of the complex's visitors and tenants are the number one priority.
