TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It was all about helping kids at the Annual 1000 Mentor Celebration.
The event is all about connecting adult mentors with kids.
The mentors give children someone to talk to, do activities with, and set a good example for them, helping keep kids on the right track.
It's an initiative spearheaded by Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum.
Organizations that take part include Leon County Schools, United Way of the Big Bend and many more.
So far, about 700 mentors have signed up.
They hope to have 1,000 mentors by the end of Gillum's term.
