MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - A local mission aims to get children new shoes before they go back to school.
Joining WTXL ABC Sunrise Anchor Christine Souders on Second Cup today was Pastor Quincy Griffin.
The free event is being hosted by the Family Worship and Praise Center, 2344 Lake Bradford Road, on Sunday, August 12, at 10:30 a.m.
Last year, more than 500 children in need received a brand new pairs of shoes for back to school.
The group says that footwear can be one of the most visible signs of poverty and they believe that no child should have to encounter pain, humiliation or a lack of confidence due to poorly looking or ill-fitting shoes.
This year's goal is for the Family Worship and Praise Center CDC to provide students in Leon and surrounding counties a brand-new pair of shoes but they say they cannot do this without your assistance.
