MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - Althemese Barnes and Annie Harris from the Riley House joined Second Cup on Wednesday to tell us about their Applause for the Pioneers Gala.

They spoke with WTXL Sunrise Anchor Malcolm Hornsby.

The annual event honors a prominent Tallahassee African American family, the Proctors: Antonio, George, John and Bahamia.

The gala, with a theme of Cufflinks and Pearls, will be Feb. 28, 2019, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Goodwood Museum and Gardens, 1600 MicCosukee Rd.

A full table is $1,000, a half table $500, and single admission $100.

The Riley historic home represents the thriving black neighborhood, known as Smokey Hollow, that once existed in what is just east of downtown Tallahassee.
