LOXAHATCHEE, Fla. (AP) - An arrest has been made in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy at a graduation party near West Palm Beach.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera says in a statement Monday night that 19-year-old Shamar Dajhawni Lawrence has been taken into custody on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the death of Branden Jackson.
Jackson of Palm Beach Gardens was shot and killed late Thursday as a party was breaking up at the home in Loxahatchee.
The sheriff's office has not released a motive for the shooting.
The Palm Beach Post reports (http://pbpo.st/1Uh5fHl) Lawrence pleaded guilty to cocaine possession and possession of a schedule 1 substance after being arrested in October.
It isn't clear if Lawrence has an attorney.
