TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Leon County residents will get an opportunity to learn about a sales tax extension that will be on the November 4, 2014 ballot.
The Village Square, in partnership with Leon County Government, the City of Tallahassee and Blueprint 2000, will host a "Penny Sales Tax Extension Town Hall Meeting" on Tuesday, September 30, 2014.
Organizers say the open-house style event will begin with a short presentation followed by a question and answer session.
There will also be an opportunity for attendees to meet one-on-one with staff to discuss the proposed Penny Sales Tax projects list in more detail.
The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Lively Café at St. John's Episcopal Church, located at 211 N. Monroe Street.
The program is free and open to the public, but, for planning purposes, advanced registration is requested. Please visit the Village Square website at http://tallahassee.tothevillagesquare.org or http://wiki.tothevillagesquare.org/x/e4KTAQ for more information and to register today.
Money from the tax has helped widen roads, relieve traffic congestion and improve quality of life. In November, all voters in Leon County will be given the choice to vote to either extend (keep) the tax in place or to allow it to expire.
